Saturday Morning Radio Show: Philly and Back Again

It’s a week and a half late and took a lot more time than I thought, but here is my first project for 2011 completed: a radio show. In all honesty it maybe should not be considered complete. I still have around 10-15 minutes of audio that has been recorded, but that is going to be part 2. It’s already about 25 minutes long and I initially thought the whole thing would be around 15 minutes! Hopefully part 2 will be out in a few weeks and then we’ll go from there. We’ve really just started the story but it could be a cool series.

Not to give too much away, but the radio show is basically a modern day adaptation of the prequel to The Lord of the Rings—The Hobbit. Except in this rendition, the hobbit is just a normal guy, the dwarves are yard gnomes (who don’t like to be called yard gnomes), and Gandalf is Chuck Norris. Yeah, it sounds a little over the top, but I think it came out kinda funny. We’re calling it “Philly and Back Again”. And I sadly realized that I am posting this the same weekend Gnomeo and Juliet comes out, so it seems like we’re ripping them off. We aren’t although I think that movie sounds funny for similar reasons.

So you may ask, why a radio show? Well, for one, it was a good combination audio and writing project. But it probably also goes back to listening to radio shows as a kid. Now, I know I’m definitely too young to talk about listening to radio shows, but there were a couple that we would always tried to on Saturday mornings. I grew up to become a bit of an audio guy and I still love how sounds can spark your imagination and take you to different places. Anyway, I hope you enjoy it. Here is the cast, to whom I owe a huge thanks. They lent their voices and support to my ridiculous project and it really means a lot to me. Really.
